<p>FAO estimates that food production must increase by at least 60 percent to respond to the demand of the 9<br>billion people that are expected to inhabit the planet by 2050. Given that one in eight people are currently food insecure, ensuring global food security over the next decades will be essential. In meeting this challenge, there is an opportunity to create sustainable economic growth in rural areas of developing countries where food security and poverty are most prevalent. </p>
