IGBO FARMERS REVERT TO TRADITIONAL METHOD OF TREATING LIVESTOCK DISEASES

Added: 1 year ago

Description

Igbo are of the South eastern part of Nigeria. The farmers in the rural arears are reverting to their traditional ways of treating
livestock diseases. This is due to lack of access to veterinary doctors and the high cost of procuring medicines from the
stores. Covid-19 lockdown and its aftermath effect have greatly reduced the visit of extension and veterinary officers to the
local communities. Farmers have therefore reverted to the traditional methods of treating their livestock diseases which are
cheap and very effective. These practices and technologies are used by traditional communities to address daily challenges faced in Small Ruminant (Sheep and Goat) Production.
